General Music

The Edna Powell Music Lab was established in memory of a long-time Traer resident through a generous gift from Mrs. Evelyn Powell and Dr. Barbara Powell Sherman. The Music Lab features four Macintosh computers and twelve Yamaha keyboards. Students in grades three and four learn to play keyboards as a part of their regular music instruction. All students above grade four have access to the Edna Powell Music Lab for music creation.

The logo for the music lab was designed by Internationally famous author and illustrator, Peter H. Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds owns a software company in Massachusetts called Fablevision and is the author of the books The North Star, The Dot, Ish, I'm Here and So Few of Me. Peter is also the illustrator for the Judy Moody series of books. In October, 2006, Mr. Reynolds sketched his character, Judy Moody, wearing a North Tama Elementary T-Shirt. Check out his website.
