See below for instructions on the steps you need to take to register!


YOU NEED TO USE GOOGLE CHROME OR FIREFOX TO DO THE ONLINE REGISTRATION. We have had a number of reports that parents using Internet Explorer are unable to see the Applications icon in Step 2.


Online Registration Instructions


Online Registration - Now Available

Online registration for the 2017-2018 school year is now available. We highly encourage you to do this registration NOW – books fees are discounted by $10 from July 3 to July 31.


There are THREE steps that you need to complete, two of which will be completed through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you do not have a Parent Portal Account, please review the email that was sent on June 30, 2017 or contact Suzanne (srearley@n-tama.k12.ia.us) for assistance.


STEP 1: Pay for book fees and other miscellaneous fees or fill out your free/reduced lunch program application.

  • To pay using a credit card, debit card, or checking account, visit PaySchools, using the button below. 
  • You can add book fees for all of your students to a cart and pay for them all at one time. 
  • You can also add lunch money to your students’ accounts through PaySchools.
  • If you need to fill out a free/reduced lunch application form, you can find it on the school's website.
  • You will receive an invoice via email from Bev Colvin.
  • PaySchools uses a separate login account from the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If this is your first time using it, you will need to create an account. Please be aware that your password can only use letters and numbers and that your phone number must be in the format xxx-xxx-xxxx.

STEP 2: Complete the Annual Student Registration Form for EACH OF YOUR STUDENTS in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.


  • Detailed instructions can be found on the school's website: PowerSchool Registration Instructions.
  • A form must be submitted for each of your students. You can begin working on the forms and return to them at a later date, your work will be saved, but not sent to our staff until you click the SUBMIT button.
  • Changes in contact information will not be immediately saved to PowerSchool, our staff will review your entries before saving, and it may take up to 2 business days before they are saved.

Please use Google Chrome or Firefox to complete this form. Parents using Internet Explorer have reported that they cannot see the Applications icon described in the instructions.


Step 3: Review your Alert Preferences in the PowerSchool Parent Portal Account.


  • You will need to adjust these preferences FOR EACH STUDENT.
  • Detailed instructions are on the school's website: SwiftK12 Alert Preferences Instructions.
  • You are responsible for adjusting your alert preferences.
  • If you make changes to contact information in the Annual Student Registration form, please note that these changes won't be reflected in the Alert System immediately. It may take up to 2 business days before changes are saved to PowerSchool, as school staff does review them before saving to the database.

Don't forget: book fees are discounted by $10 through July 31
