Welcome

North Tama Schools is committed to preparing its’ students for their postsecondary goals, by ensuring they receive the best education possible.  Roughly 70% of our students continue their education after high school and our graduation rate has been above the state average for the last several years.  Our staff continues to work hard to maintain and improve the academic excellence within the district.

The 2017-2018 school year is an exciting time for our district.  We are continuing our 1:1 initiative with iPads this school year. In addition to academic instruction, we will focus on 21st Century Skills and developing leadership within our student body.

North Tama was one of the first schools in the state to implement Authentic Intellectual Work (AIW) in our secondary school. AIW allows students the opportunity to apply skills and knowledge to create their own learning that goes beyond the walls of the school. North Tama also offers seven different concurrent or dual enrollment courses through Hawkeye Community College. These classes allow students to gain college credit while still satisfying requirements to graduate from high school.

North Tama offers a variety of activities for our student body. We offer 14 varsity sports at the high school level and eight junior high sports. Our athletic teams have a long history of success at the conference and state level, including numerous state championships. In addition to sports, we also offer 15 academic activities that are very popular at our school. Almost every student in the district participates in at least one activity, while most are involved in numerous activities.

I would encourage anyone that has questions about what we are doing at the North Tama secondary level to contact me. I am looking forward to the 2017-2018 school year and helping our students reach their academic goals, while helping them have a great experience at school.

Go Redhawks!
